HOME CLUB PRESENTS COMEDY MASALA #72 FT. RIZAL VAN GEYZEL (MY) & KAVIN JAY (MY)

Comedy Masala received yet another positive press review in The Straits Times and has been getting excellent audience feedback. The night is set to showcase more new comics, new jokes and all round comedy brilliance.

This week, we’re featuring two of the best up and coming comedians from Malaysia, Rizal van Geyzel and Kavin Jay, so expect nothing short of comedy fireworks! Rizal and Kavin have been stirring up the standup comedy scene in Kuala Lumpur and are returning to Comedy Masala to participate in the MediaCorp TV Series Special. Joining Rizal and Kavin are 10 comedians from Masala (including one debut), each bringing a unique comedy style on stage, so get ready to LYFAO.

RIZAL VAN GEYZEL (MY)

Rizal van Geyzel has been billed “The Future of Standup Comedy in Malaysia” by Harith Iskander. Born to a Chinese Dutch Father and a Malay Turkish Mother, Rizal is generally confused about what or who he is, but once he takes the stage, you won’t doubt he’s in fact 100% Malaysian! Rizal van Geyzel has finally found his “big balls” in doing stand-up comedy after a 5 year stint in America where he was “supposedly” studying Hotel Management. A regular at TimeOut KL Comedy Thursday, he was part of the hugely successful comedy show “Laugh Off Asia” where he battled for laughs against Comedy Masala!

KAVIN JAY (MY)

Kavin is the co-host of the popular SuperSports TV program Football Overload. In Dec 2011, Kavin performed alongside Vivek Mahbubani (HK) in “Karma Komedians”, Singapore’s first ever all Indian comedy show. He also hosted the very successful “Laugh Off Asia” in KL. Kavin has been voted the grumpiest comedian in Malaysia for his love/hate relationship with his life, love and country. He complains about everything, so that you don’t have to. Far from being politically correct, his intense sense of humor has charmed a wide range of audiences. His inappropriateness ranges from mild to terrifying but he will leave you wanting more. He has performed with international acts such as Dave Callan (IRE), Pierre Hollins (UK), Vir Das (IND), JJ Whitehead (CAN), Chris Wainhouse (AUS), Rob Brown (AUS), Paul Ogata (USA) & Stephen Grant (UK).
