LO-FI (Electro)

For primal rockers, pretty ravers and electronic pop lovers alike. Party vibes, stellar line ups, and a music policy that excludes the infamous woop woop, LO-FI is run by its three residents, Ming, Kurt & Kian. With a diverse range of influences and a common love for house and techno, when it comes to the dancefloor, anything goes!
With past guests, ranging from DMC champions, such as Craze & Klever, Kid Fresh & Rafik, to Indie Rockstars, such as Al Doyle (Hot Chip), Steve. S (Soulwax), to rising stars like Solo (UK) and Treasure Fingers, LO-FI has proved to be a night of uninhibited, unrestricted dancefloor mayhem.

RESIDENTS

MING (HOME)Resident at HOME CLUB, DJ/Producer Ming has fronted the LO-FI team since its inception in August 2008. With a DJ career spanning over half a decade, he has fast risen to be one of the most talented and versatile artists behind the decks. With an uncanny ability to please a dance floor, and an ear for quality music, Ming has shared the stage with some of the best bands, DJs and musicians in the world.

Gracing the decks at many a console across Singapore, and beyond, Ming has travelled the globe playing sets in multiple cities in Europe and across Asia, from clubs, to festivals, and even the odd fashion show.

Known as the bass-whizz of Home Club, his signature sound of low frequencies, rolling breaks, and jazzy synths, is translated across all genres, be it house, drum and bass, or techno.

After numerous collaborations with Clash The Disko Kids, Ming has accumulated an arsenal of remixes, re-edits and original tracks, including ‘Midget Gems’ released in late 2009. Now busy working solo in the studio, watch out for his debut EP at the end of the year.

KURT (CTDK)

As notorious front man of phenomenon DJ duo Clash The Disko Kids, Kurt is a familiar name in the Singapore party scene famous for his hand picked selection of only the finest in underground experimental Electro, House & Techno. With absolutely no intention of pleasing the mainstream party posers, Kurt defiantly sticks by his morals to feed the passionate techno and electro heads with brain sizzling tracks that never fail to satisfy.

Turning industry heads since they first started rockin’ in 2002, Kurt, together with Clash The Disko Kids have steadily risen in popularity outside their tiny little island and have been in fierce demand for gigs in Europe, Mexico, the US and the Asia region.

Leaving the crappy bubble gum commercial music to the amateurs, this Disko Kid doesn’t rely on a big crowd to promise a good party. As a self proclaimed nocturnal being, Kurt prefers to keep his activities out of the sun and behind the decks, dedicating his free time locked up in his personal asylum while concocting bpm blasting, ear bleeding mixes to please his loyal followers.

Not to be mistaken as just another pretty boy DJ, Kurt chooses to express his personality through the one way he knows best – his music.

KIAN

Kian.C, lovingly dubbed ‘everybody’s favourite DJs in JUICE DJ Quest competitions, burst into the scene with his first public appearance behind the console at the 2008 Pioneer DJ Battle. But don’t let his pet moniker fool you – the self-taught Kian, with his uniquely infectious blend of House, Electro, Nu-Disco and Techno, has already caught the eyes (or ears, to be precise) of many of the who’s who in the scene.

Influenced especially by Underworld and Digital Witchcraft, the young Kian , then still wet behind the ears at the tender age of 15, dipped himself into the realm of electronic music and has completely immersed himself in it ever since. Boasting accolades such as his virgin gig at Butter Factory’s Bitchfight night, he has gone on to bigger platforms showcasing his musical wizardry at world-class venues such as Zouk Singapore and its sibling club, Zouk KL, Phuture, Ministry of Sound Singapore, HomeClub, Zirca, Mimolette and Zanetti.

No thanks to his deeply set passion, honing his craft has always remained the numero uno priority for Kian. It might sound a tad cliched, but at the root of it all, he wants to influence and share his vision with his sweet grooves. His current muses are a broad spectrum, ranging from the ever popular Daft Punk and Justice, to the slightly mellower Paul Kalkbrenner and Popof. Like a mix of Rojak done right, Kian serves multi-genre dishes which both surprises and enlivens – think an amalgamation of deep, smooth and sexy sounds with a generous sexy sounds with a generous topping of bass.

Support is of course crucial – Kian recognises that without the support of his peers and fellow music makers alike, he is now more than ever determined to take his tunes to the dancefloor and beyond.
